If you see something happening on Thursday at the FortisBC propane plant at Oliver’s Landing near Furry Creek, don't be alarmed–it’s only a drill.
The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD), in collaboration with FortisBC, will conduct a “full-scale emergency preparedness exercise” on Feb. 13, to test emergency response plans, roles, and co-ordination efforts.
This information was announced in an official notification on the SLRD’s website.
The drill will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with “participation from multiple emergency response agencies” to simulate a co-ordinated response to a potential incident.
Residents are advised that while there will be no traffic disruptions, smoke may be visible during the exercise as part of the simulation.
Authorities emphasize that this is a scheduled training event and not a real emergency.
For further details, residents can visit or contact the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District at [email protected].
