Colton Underwood, the former football tight end who found fame on "The Bachelor鈥� has revealed that he is gay.
鈥淚鈥檝e ran from myself for a long time. I鈥檝e hated myself for a long time,鈥� Underwood told 鈥淕ood Morning America鈥� on Wednesday. 鈥淎nd I鈥檓 gay. And I came to terms with that earlier this year and have been processing it. And the next step in all of this was sort of letting people know.鈥�
Underwood tried out briefly for a handful of NFL teams before his professional football career ended in 2016. Three years later, he won over Cassie Randolph on Season 23 of 鈥淭he Bachelor,鈥� a show
Underwood said he finally got to a place where he could be honest with himself after 2020, the year that made people 鈥渓ook at themselves in the mirror and figure out who they are and what they鈥檝e been running from or what they鈥檝e been putting off in their lives.鈥�
Before headlining 鈥淭he Bachelor,鈥� Underwood appeared on the 14th season of 鈥淭he Bachelorette鈥� and season 4 of 鈥淏achelor in Paradise.鈥� He has a book, titled 鈥漈he First Time.鈥�
