Vancouver weather: Mix of showers and temperatures falling below 10 C

The overnight lows are starting to get chilly.

Locals hoping for some sunshine in the Vancouver weather forecast may have to wait several days...but they won't face any torrential downpours, either.

V.I.A.'s  Weatherhood station shows a 99 per cent chance of up to 13 mm of precipitation with a high of 13 C and a low of 11 C on Thursday, Sept. 26. However, the chance of wet weather eases heading into Friday, with only a 25 per cent chance of 6 mm of rain and a warmer high of 17 C (see slide two).

Saturday's forecast doesn't include an accumulation of precipitation, although the daytime high in that Vancouver neighbourhood is expected to be slightly cooler at 15 C.

Sunday looks mostly cloudy with a 13 per cent chance of up to 1 mm of precipitation.

Vancouver weather: Seven-day forecast

Heading into next week, Monday's forecast includes a 40 per cent chance of showers, while Tuesday has a 60 per cent chance.

Monday's forecast also includes an overnight low of 8 C, marking a shift to single-digit fall temperatures. Sunday and Monday's forecasts also include temperatures falling to 10 C.

Mid-next week locals may see some golden rays peek through the clouds. Wednesday's forecast includes a mix of sun and cloud, although there is a 20 per cent chance of showers during the day.

Environment Canada meteorologist Armel Castellan told V.I.A. in a that the last half of September should see a "mixed bag" of conditions but isn't likely to experience any significant heat or cold. He added that extreme heat or cold is unlikely and that it is common to see "a lot of different weather in short succession."

Castellan said the weather models indicate October will see wetter than normal conditions in Western Canada. Sea surface temperatures are also warmer than seasonal averages, meaning October may trend slightly warmer than average in the Lower Mainland.
