SORCA to celebrate 30th anniversary with a race

Registration for the Tour De 麻豆社国产is underway.

The will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a three-person team relay race, followed by an after-party on Sept. 17.

“Over the past 30 years, thanks to the efforts of many, trails and mountain biking have grown from a niche pastime to being at the centre of this community’s heart, culture and economy,” said Jeff Norman, SORCA president, in a news release..

“We’re looking forward to celebrating our past and future on Sept 17.”              

People can join in on the fun in three ways.

They can participate by recruiting two friends to form a team and . 

Registration is now open.

Each team is to pick a captain, who will sign up on behalf of the whole group. The captain must be a member of SORCA.

Sign-up costs are $60 per person, or $180 for a team of three, plus an additional $13.85 in processing fees, for a total of $193.85.

There's an additional $30 charge is for each team member who is not a SORCA member. Paying this fee does not grant that person SORCA membership.

Folks can also volunteer, and they can contribute SORCA mountain biking pictures from the 1990s or 2000s by contacting [email protected].

The Tour De Squamish’s name is a tribute to the late Chris McCrum, SORCA’s long-time trails director. He died on Jan. 3, 2019. McCrum organized a notoriously challenging race called the Tour De Squamish, which later evolved into Beyond the Valleycliffe of the Dolls, a shorter, fun race.
