Ricker preps with slalom win

Local snowboarders Ma毛lle Ricker and Rob Fagan prepared for Olympic snowboard cross competition by placing first and second in pro women's and men's slalom events at the 25th Legendary Banked Slalom at Mount Baker, Washington on Sunday (Feb. 7).

It was Ricker's fourth consecutive pro women's title at the event, clocking in at one minute 49.88 seconds on her first of two runs, despite falling early on the course during a tricky turn.

Fagan placed second in the pro men's category behind Temple Cummins, who also won the event in 2008, 2006 and 2001. Fagan was timed at one minute 43.62 seconds while Cummins squeaked out the win in one minute 43.08 seconds.

Fagan and Ricker go for gold at Cypress Mountain on Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 15 and 16) respectively.
