Squamish's Ducrot earned $5,000 in prize money at Whistler Olympic Plaza

After witnessing  and  take gold at the Garbanzo DH, legions of fans filed into Whistler OIympic Plaza on Tuesday night for the 2024 Deep Summer Photo Challenge.

Half a dozen talented, up-and-coming photographers displayed their work on the big screen, having had only three days to shoot their content. Judges Erin Hogue, Eliot Jackson, Rob Perry, Tom Richards and Heather Young faced a tough task: assessing all submissions based on categories like storytelling, composition, community integration, and creativity.

After careful deliberation, Joel Ducrot of 麻豆社国产was announced as winnner, collecting $5,000 CAD and exposure across Crankworx channels.

"Still in a bit of disbelief about how well all of this came together!" Ducrot wrote on social media after the fact. "Deep Summer is hands down my favourite Crankworx event year after year, allowing us to view the sport and its community from different perspectives. Incredible feeling to have my name added to the trophy alongside some of my favourite shooters!

"It’s a team effort and I’m very fortunate to be surrounded by incredibly talented and creative friends. Collaborating and getting them to the right place at the right time was my main goal. Super thankful for their trust and digging deep on this one...couldn’t have done it without them!"

Meanwhile on Thursday night, Jackson Frew and Martha Gill prevailed in this year's Specialized Dual Slalom three days after  did the same in their respective youth contests. Stay tuned to Pique Newsmagazine for the full race recap and analysis.
