Ocean Port FC win division title 2-0

Team plays next on Sunday (March 21).

Ocean Port FC defeat Meralomas SC 2- 0 to become Division 2 A champions on Saturday (March 13). An early goal by Mark Sedgewick and a late goal by Russel Joel won the team their title on Point Grey turf.

"It was an even game, a strong game and both teams wanted it," said coach Dave Harrison. "It was a great effort by all of the Ocean port players. They showed commitment and we have now won the Division 2 A Vancouver Metro Soccer League."

Next up, Ocean Port FC is scheduled to play against HNK Vatreni at Van Tech on Sunday (March 21) at 4 p.m. Harrison said the team has only one strategy and that's to win. "It's a straight knock out so you have to win."

Harrison emphasized he's confidant Ocean Port can take the title, since the team only lost twice this season and the first lost was due to the fact that the team only consisted of nine players at the time.

"We're always hopeful. We have a positive attitude on the team. We don't think we're going to lose which is a good thing. We're not cocky. We know we're going to have to fight hard but we figure we should win every game."
