The Greater Vernon 2022 BC Winter Games kicked off on Friday, March 24, and numerous athletes from Â鶹Éç¹ú²úhave already jumped into action.
The games are on until March 26. Here are the Â鶹Éç¹ú²úathletes and their respective sports:
- Brian McDonald – Archery
- Cash Cooper – Snowboarding
- Elijah Krumme – Freestyle Skiing
- Jonas Gaces – Snowboarding
- Julie Schaber – Archery
- Ryan Gates – Snowboarding
- Sasha Cromwell – Alpine Skiing
- Ty Reichert – Freestyle Skiing
- Zoe Henderson – Freestyle Skiing
Cash Cooper and Jonas Gaces both competed in the slopestyle male category for snowboarding on March 24. Gaces finished in 11th place and Cooper just missed the podium, finishing in fourth. Ryan Gates's placement is undetermined at this time..
But, in the male snowboard cross event, Gates earned the bronze medal for the Vancouver-Coastal region. Cooper and Gaces finished in 8th place and in 17th, respectively.
Alpine skiing, archery and freestyle skiing had not posted the results at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 25.
So far in the friendly competition, the Fraser River zone has earned the most medals with 64 with Vancouver-Coastal in second with 44 and Thompson-Okanagan in third with 37.
Rounding out the rest of the regions, Vancouver Island-Central Coast has 20, Fraser Valley has 15, Cariboo-North East has 12, Kootenays has six and North West has two.
