The Howe Sound Cannons finished off their season on July 29 but it wasn't exactly the way they wanted to close the year out.

The Cannons were defeated by the second place Brewers at Parkgate South field in North Vancouver by a score of 6-3, which put their final regular season record at 16-4.

The Cannons ended up in first place in the North Shore Men's Baseball Association, which means they will receive a bye to the second round of the playoffs.

This weekend, the third place team in the NSMBA, the Moose will battle the sixth place Pirates while the Reds will take on the A's. The winners of each of those best of three game series will move on to play either the Cannons or the Brewers in another best of three series the following weekend.

The NSMBA finals will occur after that.

The Cannons are looking for their fourth straight NSMBA title as the team has captured the league's championship every year since 2007.
