The second Coast Cup race of 2023 is coming to Whistler Olympic Park (WOP) on Dec. 30. The event will serve as a qualifier for the upcoming BC Winter Games.
Next year's Winter Games in Quesnel are opened to athletes born in 2009 and 2010, who can qualify next Saturday with an impressive performance in Callaghan Valley.
The Coast Cup interval start classic technique race is designed to appeal to racers of all levels, from beginners and their parents to advanced racers. U6 participants will ski a short course, while older skiers will go up to 10 kilometres. Parasitting and parastanding categories are also included.
The Indigenous Participation Program, a partnership between Cross Country BC, the Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity & Recreation Council (I·SPARC) and the BC Games Society, will also offer eight athletes, two coaches and two officials with Indigenous ancestry the opportunity to attend the Games.
