In what is the most Whistler of crimes, a Lower Mainland man was arrested this month after stealing snowboards on two separate occasions, according to police.
In a Whistler RCMP release Thursday, March 23, police said the detachment received two reports of stolen snowboards on March 8, and then again on March 16, of boards being taken from the 4100 block of Springs Lane, close to the Whistler Village Gondola.
After its investigation, Mounties identified the suspect, described as “a young man from the Lower Mainland area,” and arrested him.
Pricey perfume taken from Whistler Village store
Whistler police are sniffing around for two young suspects who reportedly stole bottles of expensive perfume from a Whistler Village shop last week.
Sometime between 7:30 and 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, Mounties said two male youth were spotted in the store, located in the 4200 block of Blackcomb Way, and stole two bottles of Tom Ford-brand perfume, with a combined retail value of $440.
“Police continue following up with this matter,” the release said.
Four drivers had cars impounded for impaired driving in past week
In the span of a week, Whistler police issued several driving suspensions and impounded four vehicles over impaired driving, according to a release.
“Over the past week, police did an impaired driving check stop, responded to some reports of impaired driving, and did proactive enforcement,” police said.
That resulted in a trio of three-day driving prohibition and two 90-day prohibitions. In all but one of those cases, the vehicles involved were impounded. Police also noted four of the five drivers were from “out of the area.”
Those were just some of the 104 files police dealt with between March 14 and 20.
