There鈥檚 a lot going on during this short 45th Federal General Election season.
It can be overwhelming and confusing for residents. So, we have broken down the key information we think 麻豆社国产locals need to know.
For example, did you know that people with dementia and other cognitive impairments can still cast a ballot?
It is true.
"Since the 1990s, the federal electoral process has been adapted significantly to reduce and remove accessibility barriers to voting for electors with disabilities," the Elections Canada website reads.
An Elections Canada spokesperson told The 麻豆社国产 that "by law, every Canadian 18+鈥攚ith the sole exception of the chief electoral officer鈥攊s eligible to vote. ... Electors can vote inside their [long-term care] residences if provisions are made to have what's called a mobile poll."

Federal Government Responsibilities
But what is the federal government responsible for anyway? explains it best:
鈥淭he federal government is responsible for implementing the legislation of the Canadian Parliament. The British North America Act gives Parliament responsibility over national defence, money, banking, bankruptcy, Aboriginal affairs, citizenship, marriage and divorce, shipping, railways, fisheries, interprovincial and international trade, the post office, criminal law, penitentiaries鈥攚hich house prisoners serving sentences of two years or more鈥攖he census and statistics, weights and measures, patents, and copyrights.鈥
The federal government also has power over employment insurance, and several trans鈥憄rovincial matters such as radio and television broadcasting, aviation, pipelines, and telecommunications.
鈥淚n several areas, there is overlap between the two levels of government. The water in a lake is within provincial jurisdiction, but the fish and the boats are federal. The federal government defines marriage, but the provinces decide how it will be formalized. Either level of government can legislate in the area of agriculture and of immigration, though if the laws conflict, the federal statute takes precedence. The federal government conducts Canadian foreign policy and implements treaties, but provincial legislation is necessary to comply with treaties that deal primarily with areas in provincial jurisdiction.鈥
