Calling all eagle eye volunteers!
The 麻豆社国产Environment Society (SES) is looking for volunteers for its annual EagleWatch Program. Anyone with “good eyesight and a pair of binoculars” is welcome to join for the one-hour shifts counting bald eagles from the Eagle Run dike. (If you’re keen to join, but don’t have a pair of binoculars, you can contact the society.)
The birds are often “perched in trees, feeding on salmon from the sand bars, or soaring in the sky above,” the SES website says.
Shifts are flexible and occur twice daily from Saturday, Nov. 2 until Sunday, Jan. 5. You can sign up for one shift per day or more.
The goal: “to contribute to a long-term citizen science initiative monitoring an overwintering population of bald eagles and to share information about our eagles with our community in 麻豆社国产and online," the website says.
