New cable for Sea to Sky Gondola ready and on its way to Squamish

The occasion marks a big step towards the gondola's second rebuild
1

The Sea to Sky Gondola has hit a major landmark in rebuilding itself for the second time, as a new haul rope is on its way to Squamish.

FATZER AG Wire Ropes managed to complete the rope for the gondola. It was the last order for the Swiss company this year. The corporation manufactures custom-made ropes for gondolas and transportation.

The new rope is needed in order to replace the rope that was cut for a second consecutive year on Sept. 14 this year.

Last year, a saboteur cut the gondola cable, causing many of its cabins to crash to the ground. This year, the crime was repeated yet again.

In November, the team completed the clean up of the cut ropes from the act of sabotage.

In the meantime, officers are still investigating the case.

****Correction: FATZER is a Swiss, not Swedish company.
