A driver accidentally put her vehicle in reverse in front of the Westwinds seniors' complex, colliding with a decorative rock.

A heavy foot led to a vehicle collision Monday, June 12 in front of a Third Avenue seniors’ complex, 麻豆社国产RCMP has confirmed.

In a release, police said members of the RCMP, 麻豆社国产Fire Rescue and BC Ambulance attended the Westwinds complex, after a driver had “inadvertently put the vehicle in reserve instead of drive and stepped on the gas,” causing the car to skip a curb, onto the side and grass, before knocking over a crosswalk sign and coming to rest atop a decorative rock.

No injuries were reported.

Rockslide smashes sunroof, blocks lane on Highway 99

Motorists found themselves between a rock and a hard place last week after rockslides in various locations along Highway 99, police said.

In a release, 麻豆社国产RCMP said on Friday, June 9, it received several complaints of rocks and debris on the Sea to Sky Highway, stretching from Strachan Point to Porteau Cove. One vehicle was reportedly damaged after a rock smashed through a sunroof while the driver was headed south on the highway, near Furry Creek.

Another large rockfall occurred near Strachan Point, with debris blocking the righthand lane, police said. The slide made such an impact that it moved a barrier into the roadway.

“麻豆社国产RCMP thanks their partner agency Miller [Capilano Highway Services] for working tirelessly throughout the morning, clearing the various areas to get traffic flowing safely again,” police said in the release.

Empty bus rolls across highway, smashing barrier

A driver can thank his lucky stars no one was injured after forgetting to put their bus in park last week, causing it to roll across the Sea to Sky Highway, police said.
In the morning hours of Friday, June 9, 麻豆社国产RCMP responded to a report of a school bus that had collided with a barrier on Highway 99, near the Tantalus lookout.

Fortunately, the bus was empty at the time, and “it was determined the driver had mistakenly forgot to put the vehicle in park,” police said in a release.

Reportedly, the bus rolled out of the lookout parking lot, across the highway, and collided with the barrier on the opposite side of the road.

“Luckily the traffic was light at the time and no other vehicles were damaged. No injuries [were] reported, and minor damage [was done] to the barrier and bus,” police said.
