Whistler Writers Festival begins Oct. 17

Tomorrow officially ushers in , and three notable events are on tap.

Swing by Whistler Public Library at 7 p.m. for a unique headliner, "The Sound of Story: Oral Storytelling & Spoken Word". Lil’wat author and oral storyteller  and 麻豆社国产storyteller  will join spoken word/slam poetry artist  and award-winning poet  in a dynamic narrative performance, as well as a discussion about diverse and ancient art forms of storytelling.

At noon, the Library will also host the first instalment of "Publish Like a Pro". In this workshop series, Vivalogue Publishing founder  will share her experiences on the business of publishing, the details of book production and how to refine one's concept. These seminars are ideal for authors with a manuscript that are looking to step towards publishing, writers who need to understand differences in publishing types, and those seeking impartial feedback. 

Stick around for a free 5 p.m. event called "Canada's Best Indies 2024" where finalists in the Whistler Independent Book Awards will read their material: including children’s literature, fiction, and non-fiction. The contest winner will be announced at Oct' 18's Literary Cabaret.
