Valdy's annual appearance at the BAG Sunday night (Jan. 25) marks the end of the Brackendale Winter Eagle Festival and gives eagle and music enthusiasts a chance to get together and celebrate with the "Senator of West Coast Music".

This year, Valdy will playing solo, performing some unique numbers from his new CD Viva Valdy. "He's been coming here for 21 years," said Thor Froslev. "He's pretty much part of everything. People are always looking forward to his show."

Valdy comes to Brackendale with quite an impressive list of awards and achievements from his storied career. He has 14 albums, 22 singles, four gold records and nearly half a million units sold worldwide. On his mantlepiece at home on Salt Spring Island, he has two Juno awards, seven Juno nominations (Country Male Vocalist & Folksinger) and has won "Songwriter of the Year" and CARAS awards in Folk and Bluegrass.

He's been a featured entertainer on national television, as a talk show guest on Open Mike with Mike Bullard, Canada AM, CBC simulcast (TV and Radio 2 stereo), and an hour-long TV special "Folksinger Deluxe with a Side of Fries". Add to that a lead role on "The Beachcombers" and minor roles in two movie features.

"He's got great energy," said Froslev. "I'm looking forward to seeing everyone have a great time as they always do when Valdy shows up. Everyone walks outta here feeling great."
