It seems like there is always something going on out at Cheekye Ranch, so it is no surprise the last weekend before back to school is no exception.

From Aug. 31 to Sept. 1, the ranch is hosting the aptly named, 鈥淪hakedown at the Ranch,鈥 a two-day, outdoor music festival.听

The all-ages event, organized by Tony Cramp and Bob Mitchell, includes camping under the stars.

鈥淲e are both live music fans and decided to join forces as T-Bone and Boogie Productions to bring live music to the Sea To Sky Community,鈥 Mitchell told The Chief.听 鈥淥ur idea was to bring the local bands together, and the fans of live music would appreciate it better in an outdoor environment.鈥

Both men have lived in the corridor for 30 years and have followed the Grateful Dead and other Jam bands like the Allman Brothers Bad and Phish and wanted to recreate the festival atmosphere of those shows including food and craft vending, he added.

鈥淲e want to encourage the musicians from different bands to sit in with the other bands to bring the musicians closer together.鈥

Attendees to the festival will also get to take in听Rev Dr. Pitman B Potter performing a reading from his book The Gospel and the Grateful Dead with music accompaniment on Sunday morning at 11 a.m. to close out the festival.

Confirmed artists include:
