Sexy people with sexy guns

Entertainment

Mr. & Mrs. Smith

Director: Doug Liman

(PG-13, 120 min.)

Cast: Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Vince Vaughn

I wish I didn't have to eat. If I didn't have to eat, then I would never have to go to the grocery store and that seems like the only way I'll ever be able to avoid knowing stupid things about strangers. Things like Ben and Jo not getting along, or anything to do with Brad, Jennifer, and Jolie.

I don't need to know about Brad being the sexiest man alive. All I know is that the boy can act and has had some key performances in some breakthrough films. And Angelina, well if those lips could talk... But all that is much un-needed tabloid titillation leading up to the first of this summer's blockbusters.

The plot is the same as True Lies except the woman is also a spy. Mr. and Mrs. Smith are a bored married couple who don't know the other's a hit person. Soon they're hired to kill one another. Then comes the shootout followed by some steamy lovin' (sorry folks, the steam was cut out to get a P-13 rating), then they team up to get all the bad guys. All the while, the quintessential witty one-liners are thrown here and there. You've seen the previews; it's all about sexy people with sexy guns in sexy cars. In true summer fashion, this movie is mindless popcorn fodder that never pretends to be otherwise and for that we can be thankful. One thing's for certain, no one who watches this movie will utter the words "I never saw that coming."
