Music fills the air and art brightens the walls at 麻豆社国产Academy of Music.
聽A free reception and Q and A will be held for the showing of abstract experimental artist Arvid Wangen on Nov. 3 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the academy on Second Ave.
Winnipeg-born Wangen has family in 麻豆社国产so spends plenty of time here and has been influenced by our surroundings, according to a news release.
聽Wangen has exhibited his paintings in galleries across Canada as well as internationally.
His work "examines the methods by which we observe our environments, our attempts to focus on a narrative or image, and the failure of our senses in filtering out noise," the release states.
"His paintings start with detail, and then build upon the idea that our view doesn't begin nor end on one focal point, but extends outwards, taking in all the minutia and structures around us."
Wangen will also be hosting a sketchbook process workshop at the academy on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m.
