As darkness sets in earlier and earlier and the weather turns chilly, locals may be looking for something social to do inside. This is a new event meant to bring locals together, through art and music.
The inaugural MIXER Art Show opens on Oct. 6 at the Brackendale Art Gallery (The BAG).
The free event will showcase 12 to 14 local emerging artists, according to a news release.
Guests can groove to live beats from DJ Rave Coach and DJ Lon while taking in the eye candy. The featured artists will have their art exhibited for a month-long show, " a great opportunity for those whose art is on display," the release states.
The artists include: Parker Carruthers, Cortez, Jessa Gilbert, Lan Yao, Stan Matwychuk, Ben Haggar, Cooney Sisters, Caroline Stroud, Amanda Jane Green, Alex Guiry, Jamie Burke, Waldemar Zagorski, Anja Braun and Rubenovitch Furnishings & Co.
After opening night, the show will run every Saturday and Sunday until Oct. 28.
This is a not-for-profit project made possible with support from the Neighbourhood Small Grants project.
"Music, arts, and culture equal a social fiesta for locals to enjoy and make new friends of all ages."
