Celebrating a decade of films

Entertainment

Ten years ago Adriane Polo hosted her first film festival at the Eagle Eye Theatre and on Sept. 16 she will celebrate her 10th running of the annual celebration of celluloid.

The 2005 edition of the Sea to Sky Film Festival will feature Canadian motion pictures and work from around the world."Now with the exposure of the net we are able to reach places like France and Rio," Polo said.

The festival organizer said many films come in from around the world and it makes choosing the line up difficult.

The festival breaks the short films into four different categories. Drama, comedy and documentary films are represented, but Polo said there weren't enough experimental submissions this year to include the category.

The films in the festival will be vying for the top honours in each category. The annual tradition of screenging a film with ties to 麻豆社国产continues this year.

Polo said one of the films showing in the second half of the evening was written and directed by former 麻豆社国产resident Mark McConchie.

The one-night festival starts at 7:00 p.m. and again it is being held at the Eagle Eye Theatre in Howe Sound Secondary School. Tickets are selling for $8 for adults and $6 for students and seniors. Mostly Books and Highlands Video are selling the tickets.
