It will be an event sure to tickle the 鶹funny bone, and lift the heart.
Squamish's adult choir, the Sea to Sky Singers, is presenting ‘Comedy Tonight,’ concerts Saturday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 28 at 2 p.m. at Centrepoint.
The group of approximately 30 singers, directed by Veronica McPhee and accompanied by Shira Weidenbaum on piano, will perform humorous songs from a variety of musical genre, according to a news release from the singers.
“The theme was chosen to showcase the lighter side of choral music,” McPhee said in the release. “We hope to engage a new audience while still appealing to our devoted crowd."
The shows will also feature a stand-up performance by award-winning Vancouver comedian Ross Dauk, who will also serve as master of ceremonies.

“While some may think these two performance styles don’t mix, both can fit together seamlessly,” McPhee said. “Music relies on strong emotions; joy and laughter are some of the strongest. Music tells stories and some of the best storytellers are comedians. We’ve probably all connected with the adage, ‘It’s funny because it’s true.’”
The musical line-up includes arrangements of Stephen Sondheim classics including Comedy Tonight and Send in the Clowns.
There will be a cash bar at the Saturday evening performance. Tickets can be purchased at Anna’s Interiors, Concrete Blonde or at the door. Children 12 and under are free.
