The second lottery home this year is up for grabs right here in Squamish.聽

This time, it鈥檚 part of the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation annual Millionaire Lottery. The Lauren condo isn鈥檛 finished construction yet but will be nestled at #617-38103 Third Ave. It is part of a prize package that includes a sub-penthouse condo with a rooftop deck in Vancouver.

The lucky winner also receives over $30,000 in furnishings for the 麻豆社国产condo, a new BMW and $350,000 cash, according to a news release. The total prize show home package is valued at over $2.9 million.

Or the winner can accept $2.7 million in tax-free cash instead of taking the prize.

Tom Malpass of Macdonald Realty said they decided to hold back one of the last units at The Lauren for the lottery. The development sold 99 per cent of its units in one day when they were released in September.聽

鈥淚t鈥檚 a good example of how quickly 麻豆社国产is growing,鈥 he said.聽

The condo is a two-level loft unit with two bedrooms and a den boasting just over 1,000 square feet, he explained.聽

鈥淚t鈥檚 a pretty cool unit,鈥 he added and is expected to be completed in March.

Malpass and his team鈥檚 first lottery property was at 1990 Dowad Drive in the new Skyridge development. The BC Children鈥檚 Hospital Dream Lottery closed last month. That winner chose the cash instead of the six-bedroom luxury home, he said.

The plan is to keep 麻豆社国产in the lottery for the future. 鈥淲e just think it鈥檚 the hottest market in B.C. right now,鈥 he said. 鈥淚t should be thought of as a place where a prize winner would want to live.鈥

Angela Chapman is the senior vice president of philanthropy at the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation and explained the lottery is province wide and 麻豆社国产is an attractive destination for outdoor enthusiasts.聽

鈥淎fter 22 years, the market around housing has changed,鈥 she said. 鈥淚n some ways, many people think that it鈥檚 the only way they鈥檒l get a home.鈥澛

Money raised from ticket sales will go toward buying much-needed equipment for the hospitals, Chapman explained. To date, the lottery has raised over $50 million for the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation.

鈥淰GH is a provincial resource that sees the most acute cases in healthcare,鈥 she added, noting it is a teaching hospital that collects data. So, the money can be used to innovate in ways that the Ministry of Health funding cannot allow.聽

Earnings will fund ceiling lifts, research programs, new technologies and portable equipment that allows surgeons to perform CT scans of patients during surgery.聽

This year, the Early Bird draw is brand new and closes on Dec. 24. Two Early Bird winners in two draws will win a total of $250,000.聽

Ticket sales close Jan. 12. Purchase tickets online at www.millionairelottery.com or in-person at any London Drugs.
