More than in many places, volunteers are the backbone of what makes 麻豆社国产a community.
This event is a chance to celebrate that spirit of giving and to learn about the many opportunities to volunteer locally.
The seventh annual Squamish’s Volunteer Celebration is on Friday, April 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. in Junction Park and O’Siyam Pavilion.
Five local nonprofits and their volunteers — 麻豆社国产Helping Hands Society, 麻豆社国产Food Bank, 麻豆社国产Welcome Centre, Sea to Sky Hospice Society, and Our 麻豆社国产— have come together on behalf of the 麻豆社国产Nonprofit Network to organize and host the free, family-friendly celebration.
Local nonprofits, community groups, and service organizations will set up tables and activities “to celebrate all of the volunteers in the community and bring awareness to volunteer culture in Squamish,” reads a news release about the event.
“This is an opportunity for organizations to show their appreciation for their volunteers and share about the work they are doing in the community.”
There will be food, music, and prizes.
“Come enjoy food from Peak Provisions and Our麻豆社国产and performances by the students of Cam Salay’s Brackendale School of Fun Arts.”
Nonprofits and volunteer groups who want to participate can still register by or by contacting Michelle Balch at [email protected].
The event is made possible by a Community Enhancement Grant from the 麻豆社国产Community Foundation.
Squamish's celebration is part of a nationwide celebration of volunteers facilitated by Volunteer Canada, National Volunteer Week, which runs from April 16 to 22.
This year, the National Volunteer Week theme is “Volunteering weaves us together.”
