The West Coast Railway Heritage Park is pleased to present the second annual Steam Festival this weekend (July 11-12). The two-day event will feature live steam displays including thee famous Royal Hudson along with the Stanley Steamer, steam tractors, and of course, mini-rail and mini-rail steam engines. Also on display will be the Sopwith Camel bi-plane courtesy of the Langley Museum of Flight. Thanks to the B.C. Museum of Mining, children will be able to pan for gold in the kids entertainment area.

The Howe Sound Women's Centre is creating its first annual raffle calendar showcasing women in the community doing what they are passionate about and/or showing their strength and vision. The raffle calendar will give the purchased the opportunity to win 24 different prizes throughout the year. There will be 19 $100 prizes, four $250 prizes and one $1,000 prize. Children are invited to "Follow the Reader" this summer at the 麻豆社国产Public Library. There is still time for children to participate in this free program by signing up for the 2009 Summer Reading Club. Children of all ages can join this summer-long program and receive a free reading log and bookmark to start them on their celebration. Each child can also receive stickers and great prizes.
