Today's calls for sunny skies with a high of about -4 C in Whistler. A low of -12 C is expected overnight, with clear skies. Looking to tomorrow, the forecast calls for more sunshine, with a high of about -2 C.
An remains in effect for the Whistler Valley this morning.
"A combination of low temperatures and strong outflow winds will give wind chill values near minus 20 this morning," it reads. "Frostbite and hypothermia can occur within minutes if adequate precautions are not taken when outdoors. If outside, dress warmly in layers and stay dry. Cover as much exposed skin as possible to avoid frostbite. Arctic outflow warnings are issued when bitterly cold air flows from the interior to coastal communities and the outflow winds create wind chill values of -20 or less for 6 hours or more."
, Whistler Blackcomb is forecasting sunshine with a high of about -8 C, a low of -10 C, and light winds. The freezing level sits at about 700 metres. The mountain operator is reporting no fresh snow in the past 12 hours, and a base depth of about 178 cm.
WB is reporting 63 groomed runs and 765 acres on Whistler, and 65 groomed runs and 790 acres on Blackcomb.
Both alpine and mid-mountain surface conditions are listed as hard-packed.
"A broad area of high pressure associated with an arctic airmass is expected to bring mainly sunny/clear conditions but slightly cooler than seasonal temperatures through Friday. Meanwhile, light-moderate ridgetop winds are expected today, then becoming light tomorrow through Friday. Freezing levels up to 400-800 m are also expected. Looking ahead, a series of Pacific lows are expected to bring periods of snow as well as more seasonal temperatures this weekend into early next week with possible freezing levels up to 1200-1600 m," WB said in its morning report.
