Three individuals from the Lower Mainland are facing aggravated assault charges eight months after left two men with non-life-threatening injuries.
In a news release issued Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 9, Whistler RCMP announced Elliot Bains of Delta, Nathan Sidhu from Surrey, and Harmeen Cheema of Vancouver have each been charged with two counts of aggravated assault. Bains and Sidhu each face an additional charge for possession of a weapon.
Charges were laid against the suspects on Nov. 7.
Whistler RCMP officers were initially called to respond to reports of "an altercation involving a knife" near Whistler's Marketplace, located in the 4300 block of Lorimer Road, on Sunday, March 20 at about 4:30 a.m. At the scene, police found two stabbing victims suffering from non-life-threatening injuries, who were later transported to hospital for treatment. The suspects had reportedly fled the area.
All involved in the incident were from the Lower Mainland and in their 20s, police said at the time.
Members of Sea to Sky RCMP detachments identified and arrested two individuals in the days following the incident who were believed to be involved. The accused were released pending further investigation.
According to the release, the RCMP's Sea to Sky General Investigation Section ultimately identified the three suspects as a result of its investigation.
