A low-cost Canadian airline is offering some sweet Easter savings to select destinations out of the Lower Mainland.
WestJet's low-cost carrier, Swoop, has slashed prices on base fares to some highly sought-after spots as part of its Easter Sale that will run until Friday, April 14 this week at 10:59 p..m.
Travellers can take advantage of 30 per cent off base fares from flights between Abbotsford International Airport (YXX) and Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta in Mexico, as well as London, Ontario.
The sale is valid on travel between May 24 and Oct. 31 excluding the following "blackout periods": June 29 to Sept. 5 and Sept. 28 to Oct. 10. Enter the promotional code "BUNNY30" during the checkout process to take advantage of the offer.
Only one promotional code may be used per booking and it cannot be combined with other offers.
The cost of a one-way ticket from Abbotsford to Puerto Vallarta, departing on June 15 costs $119. With the promotion, travellers can take 30 per cent off the base fare ($39.78) of the flight, which works out to a discount of $11.93.
Once the discount is applied, the total cost of a one-way ticket works out to $107.07 including all taxes and fees.
The cost of a one-way ticket from Abbotsford to Los Cabos departing on June 5 costs $109.01. With the promotion, travellers can take 30 per cent off the base fare ($29.79) of the flight, which works out to a discount of $8.94.
Once the discount is applied, the total cost of a one-way ticket works out to $100.07 including all taxes and fees.
The cost of a one-way ticket from Abbotsford to London, Ontario departing on May 21 costs $48.99. With the promotion, travellers can take 30 per cent off the base fare ($35.59) of the flight, which works out to a discount of $10.68.
Once the discount is applied, the total cost of a one-way ticket works out to $38.31 including all taxes and fees.
Important considerations with the Mexico travel advisory
The United States is warning travellers to completely avoid travel to six Mexican states due to increasing violent crime and kidnapping; Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta are not located within any of them.
While the Canadian government hasn't instated a "do not travel" warning, it advises tourists to avoid "all non-essential travel" to 13 areas across the country due to violence and organized crime.
