North Vancouver's Seo family is set to appear on an episode of Family Feud Canada airing Dec. 28 on CBC. Siblings Martina and Phil Seo are reality TV veterans, having competed in Amazing Race Canada in 2018.

A dynamic North Vancouver sibling duo will be back on TV this holiday season, and this time they’re bringing more family members with them.

The Seo family will represent North Van on a Family Feud Canada episode set to air Dec. 28 on CBC, led by brother and sister Phil and Martina Seo making a return to the reality TV world. The two siblings first showed up on the small screen on the Amazing Race Canada in 2018, finishing fourth in the globe-trotting challenge. They’re back for more on-screen fun, along with their sister Rose Lo, Phil’s wife Mary Seo, and their cousin Grace Kwan.

Martina spoke to the North Shore News about the experience of filming the episode, and while she can’t reveal the result, she can guarantee that fun was had by all.

“There was a lot of screaming and jumping, let’s just put it that way,” she said with a laugh.

It’s a return to the spotlight for Phil and Martina, North Vancouver natives who both went to Plymouth Elementary, Carson Graham Secondary and the University of British Columbia. Their 2018 stint on Amazing Race Canada was a memorable one, as they nearly cracked the top three, racing around the world against Olympians, CFL cheerleaders, cops, members of the military, and more.

The experience gave them a taste of the reality TV world, and they wanted more, said Martina, whose exuberance and bubbly personality seem like a great fit for the genre.

“We love TV shows,” she said. “We want to be on TV again. We love reality TV. Amazing Race Canada was so phenomenal.”

Filming for Family Feud Canada took place in Toronto in October, and the Seo family had a blast travelling out there together and enjoying the sights of the big city, as well as playing the famous game.

Comedian Gerry Dee is the host of the show, and he was “a hoot,” said Martina.

“He’s so quick and he’s just so lovely,” she said. “I just loved him. I love Gerry Dee – he’s so funny.”

The filming itself went by in a flash, she said.

“Everything happens so fast. … It’s like a 22-minute episode but they filmed it within an hour. The game happens – bam, bam, bam! – and like, boom, it’s over. It’s so fast and fun and exciting, and you’re completely on adrenaline.”

No matter the result, Martina is hoping people will enjoy watching the show as much as they enjoyed making it.

“I hope everyone on the North Shore is going to be super excited,” she said. “We love the North Shore, there’s nowhere else we’d want to be. … We hope that we represented the North Shore and made you guys proud.”
