Adorable pups saved from 'deplorable conditions' need help with emergency care costs

"Chuck and Stu are the sweetest little bundles of fur with so much love to give."

A pair of chocolate Labrador puppies are in desperate need of help to get them the care they need to recover from health issues due to living in what rescuers call "deplorable conditions."

The BC SPCA in Vancouver says the two pups, along with their five siblings, were part of a recent emergency intake.

“The puppies were discovered in a trailer running loose with no visible food or water,” says Jodi Dunlop, manager BC SPCA Vancouver. “When they arrived they were lethargic and clearly had been living in an unsanitary home.”

While all seven of the dogs were determined to be underweight and full of parasites, two of the pups, now named Chuck and Stu, required emergency medical care.

Those two ill puppies were dehydrated, not eating, and anemic.

“The two puppies were given an ultrasound and blood work and received 48 hours emergency care on IV fluids,” says Dunlop. “One of the puppies requires repeat bloodwork.”

"Chuck and Stu are the sweetest little bundles of fur with so much love to give," adds the BC SPCA.

The goal is to get the pups the care they need and then find them suitable homes for adoption.

All of the puppies, including Chuck and Stu, will need vaccines, and other veterinary treatments, including deworming, and spaying and neutering.

“These little pups are adorable,” says Dunlop. “Once they are all feeling better they are going to make great family members.”

Those donating to this specific campaign can expect to receive updates about Chuck and Stu. The BC SPCA Vancouver branch has a goal of just under $5000 to cover the costs of caring for the puppies, but should the cost come in at under that amount, any additional funds raised will be moved to helping other animals in their care.
