Seventeen British Columbians have died since Friday from COVID-19, and there have been three new outbreaks reported at long-term care homes.

Since Friday, there have been 1,438 new active cases of COVID-19 infections, the provincial health office reports, bringing the total number of active cases in B.C. to 4,282.

Of those active cases, 407 people are in hospital, and 121 are in intensive care. People who are unvaccinated account for 70.7% of hospitalizations.

There are new outbreaks reported at Burnaby Hospital, Maplewood House and Revera Parkwood Manor (Fraser Health). There is also an outbreak at Millar College of the Bible.

The Fraser Health Region remains the COVID-19 hotspot in B.C., with 575 of the new cases since Friday occurring there. That is followed by Interior Health, with 321 new cases, Island Health (221), Northern Health (166), and Vancouver Coastal Health (155).

To date, 90.3% of British Columbians 12 and older (4,184,112) have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 86.0% (3,986,497) have received their second dose.

In total, 90.7% (3,922,224) of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose and 86.6% (3,744,474) have received their second dose.

The 17 deaths since Friday occurred in the following health regions:

  • Northern Health, 6
  • Fraser Health, 5
  • Island Health, 3
  • Vancouver Coastal Health, 2
  • Interior Health, 1

Outbreaks have been declared over at Chilliwack General Hospital, Rideau Retirement Residence, Norman Manor, Menno Terrace West (Fraser Health), Overlander, Haven Hill Retirement Centre and Deni House (Interior Health).

Ongoing outbreaks in B.C. at long-term care facilities include:

  • Cherington Place, Queens Park Care Centre, Rosemary Heights Seniors Village, Tabor Home, Cascade Gardens, Maplewood House (Fraser Health);
  • Amica Lions Gate, Amica Edgemont (Vancouver Coastal Health);
  • Cottonwoods Care Centre, Village by the Station, Brocklehurst Gemstone Care Centre, Sun Pointe Village (Interior Health);
  • Peace Villa (Northern Health); and
  • Chartwell Malaspina Care Residence (Island Health).

Acute care facilities with outbreaks include:

  • Mission Memorial Hospital, Queen’s Park Care Centre, Abbotsford Regional Hospital, Burnaby Hospital (Fraser Health);
  • Royal Inland Hospital (Interior Health);
  • University Hospital of Northern BC, GR Baker Memorial Hospital, Bulkley Valley District Hospital (Northern Health); and
  • Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (Island Health)

All outbreaks in assisted living facilities are in the Fraser Health region: The Emerald at Elim Village, Swedish Assisted Living Residence, Harrison Pointe, Pacific Carlton Seniors Community, Tabor Manor, The Cedars, Hallmark on the Lake, Hallmark on the Park, Bethshan Gardens and Revera Parkwood Manor.
