The BC Vaccine Card program comes into effect today, which means that proof of vaccination will be required at a broad range of discretionary events and businesses across the province.
Effective Monday, Sept. 13, British Columbians must show proof of at least one dose of vaccination to gain entry to places such as restaurants with table service, large sporting events, gyms, and more.

Don't have your card yet but need to visit a business that requires it?
The Province has allowed a grace period until Sept. 23 for people to get their official BC Vaccine Card. During this period, you may use the paper copy you received at a COVID-19 vaccination clinic as proof.
How do I use it to enter an event or business?
You should have your card ready when entering a business. Ensuring it is easily accessible on your smartphone or in your wallet will save you time. Someone will look at your vaccine card as well as a valid piece of government ID, so have both ready before you asked for them.
Where will I need my vaccine card?
People aged 12 and older require their BC Vaccine Card or proof of vaccination at the following places:
- Indoor ticketed sporting events with more than 50 people
- Indoor concerts, theatre, dance and symphony events with more than 50 people
- Licensed restaurants and cafes and restaurants and cafes that offer table service (indoor and patio dining), including liquor tasting rooms in wineries, breweries or distilleries
- Pubs, bars and lounges (indoor and patio dining)
- Nightclubs, casinos and movie theatres
- Gyms, exercise/dance facilities/studios and these activities happening in recreation facilities
- Businesses offering indoor exercise/fitness
- Indoor adult group and team sports for people 22 years old or older
- Indoor organized events with 50 or more people.
- For example: wedding and funeral receptions (outside of a funeral home), organized parties, conferences, trade fairs and workshops
- Indoor organized group recreational classes and activities with more than 50 people like pottery, art and choir
- Post-secondary student housing
- Spectators at indoor youth sporting events with more than 50 people
