Police have issued a provincewide arrest warrant for a thief who is on a roll.
Police allege the man pulled off a circular swindle that netted him $30,000 after convincing tellers at numerous banks in the Lower Mainland 鈥 including three in North Vancouver 鈥 to hand over cash in exchange for rolls of toonie coins.
Although the rolls looked real, with a toonie on each end, police said the rest of the 鈥渃oins鈥 inside were metal washers.
The coin con man hit banks in North Vancouver, Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, New Westminster, Surrey, Abbotsford and Langley, trading in fake $50 rolls of toonies for bills 17 times between March 5 and May 10, 2018.
In at least one incident, at a North Vancouver bank in March, the thief was caught on video surveillance cameras.
After an extensive investigation, 17 charges of fraud under $5,000 were laid Sept. 19 against 43-year-old Terrelle Robert Talbot of no fixed address.
Police said Talbot is originally from Nova Scotia, where there is an outstanding warrant for his arrest on a similar offence in 2013.
Talbot is described as black, six feet tall, 200 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information on Talbot鈥檚 whereabouts is asked to contact the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311. If you wish to make an anonymous report, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or .
