Federal Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is back on Vancouver Island to finish a summer tour that was put on hold due to wildfires.
Poilievre is holding a Bring it Home rally in Duncan on Monday evening following a press conference in Vancouver earlier that day.
The event will be at the largest hall in Cowichan Exhibition Park, which has a capacity of close to 1,500.
Poilievre’s B.C. tour, including a planned stop in Campbell River, was during a historic wildfire season in B.C. and the Yukon that saw many communites evacuated.
In September, he made his return to Vancouver Island with a rally at a Black Creek winery that saw about 1,500 in attendance.
While the federal ridings of North Island-Powell River and the Cowichan-Malahat-Langford were won by the New Democratic Party in the 2021 federal election, Conservative Party candidates came second in both ridings.
While the next federal election could be two years away, the Conservatives under Poilievre have shifted into campaign mode, targeting ridings held by the Liberals and the NDP across the country with a $3 million ad campaign where Poilievre promises to fix what’s “broken” in Canada.
