A black bear sighted in Brentwood Bay on Saturday morning has so far not come into any conflict with humans, said police.

Central Saanich police said in a statement posted on social media shortly after 9 a.m. that the bear was seen near Sea Drive, just north of Butchart Gardens.

In a video obtained by CHEK News, a bear could be seen ambling into a carport in that Central Saanich neighbourhood.

The B.C. government recommends that anyone encountering a bear should remain calm, stay away, and go indoors.
