It was a solid outing for  last weekend at home, defending Brennan Park with a 21-8 victory over the Kitsilano Kats.

The club's Division 3 team wasn't so lucky, falling 32-7 against the visiting Brit Lions.

Meanwhile, suffered a 71-0 setback against the Kelowna Crows in the longest road trip of its brief history. Growing pains will be inevitable as first-year head coach Lauren Arthur works to build up a recently-revived program with athletes of varying experience levels.

"One win and 2 losses for the club this weekend, but a record number of players taking to the field to represent the club marked a strong start to the competitive season," said club representatives in a statement on social media.

The Division 2 Axemen retake the pitch this Saturday at 12:45 p.m. against Simon Fraser University.
