Is nautical nonsense something you wish? Here you go
Children under 15, their parents and assorted hipsters of all ages will be very familiar to this man of the sponge. For all others here's a quick rundown. SpongeBob (an animated sponge) lives under the sea in Bikini Bottom. He is pretty much the perfect embodiment of the phrase ignorance is bliss. He's smart enough to see wrong but chooses to see the glass as half full.
Always at his side is Patrick, a starfish filling the role of stereotypical fat dumb kid. And of course his boss, Mr. Krabs, who believes the only thing better than money is more money. SpongeBob is the blissfully abused employee working harder and longer so Mr. Krabs can have more money!
The movie starts with SpongeBob very excited to be finally be made manager of the new Krusty Krabs Restaurant. Alas, it doesn't happen, so Patrick tries to cheer him up. Then Mr. Krabs' nemesis, Plankton, instigates an evil plan to frame Krabs for the theft of the crown of King Neptune and steals Krabs' crowd-pleasing secret recipe to draw diners to his own restaurant.
Like all TV-gone-movie cartoons, you can look forward to a couple of crossed lines, the best being some scenes reminiscent of early "Ren & Stimpy" - namely a belligerently drunk (on ice cream) SpongeBob. Unfortunately, the subversive tidbits that keeps parents glued to the TV show were far more sparse then expected.
That said, this movie won't win any new fans but will keep the millions he already has very happy.
